People With Guns Kill People

Congressional gun control legislation is falling apart:

I can’t stand that this is what America is; that we trade our children’s lives for the opportunity to purchase items specifically invented for killing. I can’t stand it. It’s pathetic and embarrassing and barbaric.

I’m frustrated with that whole issue as well. Who consciously kills a person? Another person. Not the gun, that is just the weapon. A gun doesn’t wake up in the morning, and decide it is going to kill someone. Guns don’t kill people, people do. If there were no guns, the tragedies at these schools would likely not happen. You don’t hear of massive tragedies with someone running around with a knife. Okay, done with my soapbox.

The hard thing is, the entire issue feels completely intractable, hopeless. I mean, the NRA lobbying power is just immense; their capability to endanger or outright end the career of a politician who chooses to oppose their agenda seems nearly limitless. I refer the interested reader to many European countries to get a clearer picture for how ridiculous and reckless the United State’s gun laws are.
