The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien

This is the set of Conan O’Brien’s new show, The Tonight Show.

Conan's new set in Los Angeles.

New York Times magazine recently published a quite lengthy article about Conan’s career, the prime time talk show landscape, and the forthcoming debut of the next Tonight Show on June 1, 2009. I’ll be watching. Your prognostications for the show are welcome.

I have always been a fan of Conan, however, his moving time slots does not help me at all. I also love Letterman’s show and found Leno to be smug and trite. This made any Tonight Show v Late Show viewing a no-brainer for me. While this makes my decision for the next time slot easier (big fan of Craig Ferguson) it does make it hard to choose between Letterman and Conan.

I will still watch Conan’s first night, however.

Good point — Letterman is, as they say, the reigning King. I’ll be seriously concerned if Ferguson doesn’t replace Letterman when that time comes. Then, we’ll be right back to the previous conundrum.

I love Conan. I can’t wait until Monday, I’ve been waiting since January. His weird, quirky sense of humor is unparalleled in late night television. Anyone see him on Friday night Leno? Probably not considering the last 2 comments. Either way I’m interested in seeing the conclusion of the skit aired at that time.
