Success
After eleven months of chemistry research, and with the help of my esteemed (and much more experienced) colleague … I have succeeded in making step two of my six step antibiotic synthesis! There was no sarcasm in that previous statement, either. I am psyched. It’s going to be a good summer of research.

Well… I sent Mr. Micek a text message yesterday letting him know how excited I was… I thought the smiley would be sufficient for my response to the blog post… perhaps I was very wrong.
I feel that the new comment rating system may be making a few Tumbledryers (ahem, Dan, Nils…) a bit competitive. I, for one, am not interested in interefering with these fierce competitors, for I know I will not come out a victor. I will never again post a simple smile. Two smiles… perhaps… we shall see…

Yes, research rocks. As an honest question, was that the longest step in this process? Eleven months seems like a long time and I was under the impression that you only had one year left…so another 11 month step would not be such a good thing.
