Rain on Shoes

It was pouring rain on Thursday. In a lull, I ran outside and grabbed an umbrella from Lance. “Careful, it’s a death trap,” he said, handing me the slightly broken, wet bundle. I jogged up to north to meet a certain Mykala after her english class. Another downpour started. We ran from McNeely to the arches under the umbrella, and I could feel the rain pound into my shoes so hard that it came through the shoelace holes. We ran inside laughing, looking like our lower halves had been dunked in water. It was such a perfect moment that I felt like I was in a movie.

Two years ago, water-logged leather shoes would have bothered me. I would have panicked, wondering how to dry them off to save the leather. But on Thursday, I looked down at my shoes and kept on walking. Two hours later, I walked out of art history and noticed they were dry. They looked as good, if not better, than they did before.

It is a fantastic feeling to lose a worry. I’m learning that sometimes, when things look hopelessly water-logged, there really isn’t anything to worry about. Like when dryers are terrible at drying clothes (3 dollars for 5 pieces of clothing) or when you talk in your sleep (do not doze off and then keep talking, you will not make any sense) - these things are times to cherish, to laugh about, to remember. It is just something you have to learn yourself, I wish it was easy to teach; the sooner we learn, the better.

Oh sweet, you have comments on yuor page now! Nice piece or writing today, so poetic. “It is a fantastic feeling to lose a worry.” <— great line. I’ve been worrying about losing my scholarship, but then again, if i do, it wouldn’t really be so bad because i’d probably transfer to the U of M and have a chance to see some of my old Woodbury friends or something.

Cute. Cute and touching. Cute, touching, and informative, and also inspirational. Good work. I like these comment things, I hope more people start using it.

Hey guys! Thanks for being the first brave group to go out there and comment. I hope things work out with your scholarship, Richard. And I agree Nils, more discourse will hopefully take place via these comments. I might see you this weekend if I swing through Woodbury.
