Closing In

So I thought school was close before. Now its actually getting close and I’m starting to think about it! Yuck. Good and bad I guess. Just got back from vacation here so I’ll be adding to the site; I hope to open just a bit before school starts. That way, I can just do front page updates during the school year. I’ll keep it short, ‘cause no one’s readin’ this anyways.

Finished

The main page and all of the funky code that was written to make it work are done! Yay! Well, not really. There is still a lot of work ahead ‘til I get the site finished. I still have to load in all of the links I have for you people, write tons more code to get the interactice stuff working; I’m always talking about that lately. But the reason I am talking about it is because it’s so important. The Community section where this interacticity will be is important. The question is whether or not I can get if off of the ground. If people don’t come to post announcements, links, or sign the guestbook; it is rather pointless. I hope to get this thing off of the ground, but I don’t know if it will work, I sure hope it does.

Featured Website: I was told by a friend about a fun little site where you can play games, debate with other teenagers, and even get stuff like bikes and video goggles using a system called EPoints. There are games of luck and games of skill where you can win up to 10 million points; fun site! This is at My ECamp.

Approaching

Wow. Summer is more than half over. I can’t believe it. Hopefully I’ll get my little corner of the web up and running before school starts so I won’t have any real work to do just before school starts. Best to let my brain get as mushy as possible before school rather than work the logic circuits trying to work out the scripts that makes my site run. Speaking of scripts, those are quickly becoming important and I am currently working on the hit counter and current time script. These should be finished without too much trouble and then its on to the community section to write all those scripts. Wish me luck!

Continuing Designing

Well nothing really that exciting for ya today. I suppose that doesn’t really matter considering nobody is reading this stuff anyways. I’m working on the main page (still!) but that should be wrapped up fairly shortly. Then, I’ll have the content figured out and that should go pretty quick. ‘Cept for the interactive sections which will take quite a while to work out.

Continuing

More progress on the site design today. Nothing significant, though, considering I haven’t even finished with the main page design and won’t finish it for a while now. I’m still working on content and a focus for the site. Let’s hope that turns out.

On a side note, a friend told me about a really cool online test. Take it! Its so weird. http://www.interactivelunacy.com/weirdtest.htm

New, Color Coded Design

Tonight I’m just fooling around with the site design. Not much to say, but right now it’s a little discouraging trying to get things to work right. Oh well, I’ll get there. I got my priorities a little messed up thinking about how to make this site. I did the design first, and now I am trying to think about what it is going to be about. I guess I think this one is going to be a little more community orientated with a picture upload option, message board, and hopefully one or two other interactive options. I’m thinking of ideas about how to make it a place where people will come consistently. Updates featuring worthwhile news and interesting sites will be a center point and hopefully I’ll be able to have an announcements section where people can post to others about what will be happening soon around Woodbury. Say what? Uh, sure - you can tell I’m still trying to think about what to do for a site.

JibJab

jibjab.com is a fun little site

JibJab is a joke site. Some of it is a little sick, but otherwise it is harmless clean humor. Either way, JibJab is a fun website to spend a little time at. They offer animated comics. This is achieved by using Flash; an animator program that imports sounds and images into interactive animated presentations with relatively small file sizes. Flash is so versatile that it is used in everything from programs like Microsoft Encarta to movie trailers. The aforementioned qualifications make Flash the perfect medium to use when making zero budget funny cartoons. In addition to stretching the amazing medium of flash to the max, JibJab makes things like screen savers to keep you entertained even when you are not at their site. In addition to having these great mediums to communicate, JibJab adds another thing to the mix; E-Cards! Made using the themes of their comics, these cards will make you laugh, or gross you out. Your choice! There is an expanding line of merchandise, a subscription option and a discussion board as well. Although the discussion board is still to come, it will most likely be a place where the beginner to advanced Flash animator can go to get good advice, tips, and pointers about making presentations in Flash. Point your browser to, load the Flash, and read the comics of JibJab today!

Digital Blasphemy

digitalblasphemy.com will blow you away.

So you’ve been around the interent. You have seen your share of cool sites, neat things, and stuff that makes you think to yourself, “man, that is cool”. This site is way the heck beyond that. This site makes you think;

“Holy jesus god how the heck does this guy DO this stuff??? It looks photorealistic!!! He has whole castles he designed himself viewed from different at different angles at times of day!! Oh my god, I gotta download this stuff and put it on my desktop now!!! I can’t believe this!!”

Anyways, you should be thinking something like that when you view the stuff that this guy does. Incredible. Absolutely. I mean WOW. Ok, enough drooling and you’ll find out what this actually is. This site is dedicated to providing the internet community with awesome pictures. Pay more, and the pictures get even more awesome, something I hardly thought possible. For 25 dollars per year you can get full access to this astounding library of images. I’d go for it if I had the money and you should too. Anyways, the images are produced with combinations of software totaling greater than 3,000 dollars in value which is the reason the guy has to charge for his really good images. Also, the reason for the charge is because this stuff takes time, lots and lots of time. But, the images that are free are awesome, too. If you don’t take a look today, look tomorrow, and if you don’t then, you are missing way out.

Quack

quack.com revolutionizes the accesibility of the web

What is quack.com? You may not have heard of it. It has most heavily been marketed in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area. Quack.com is not focused around a website, it is a service. An amazing service. Quack.com alows the user to get information off of the web via a telephone. You call their number and then say keywords like “sports” or “weather” to get the information relevant to that topic. The service allows you to “talk with the internet”. A couple of things that make this a great service are:

Yeah, I was pretty impressed, too. I am curious to see how succesful quack.com is. It could very easily fail as investors are pulling out of many companies that are involved with the internet. Quack.com might not have problems, but the companies that help it run could have investor issues. There are other services like Quack.com as well, but they are not as advanced (or as publicized) as Quack.com. Either way, one company will most likely eventually supply a service similar to this, and it could be Quack.com.

Plains

George Winston’s Newest Album is very good

I’m writing this article as I am listening to RealAudio clips of George Winston’s newest CD. Having heard a lot of his work, I am happy to say this album lives up to the high quality of Winston’s piano playing. I’ll let Windham Hill do the talking:

George Winston returns with Plains: Limited Edition, his first studio album featuring newly recorded compositions in over 5 years! Plains: Limited Edition captures the beauty and wilderness of George’s home state, Montana. The album features George’s rendition of Garth Brook’s hit “The Dance”, Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel”, and Dubuque, PLUS 2 bonus tracks: Sasse (Sassy) and Muliwai for a total of 16 tracks. These Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar tracks are only available on Plains: Limited Edition.

Also, George has some things to say about the development of the album:

When PLAINS took on a life of its own, I began drawing on my childhood memories of Montana, as well as my feelings now,” In many ways, even on my earlier albums with the season themes, the plains are a deep inspiration for everything I do.

Sounds like some pretty good stuff doesn’t it? I’d say so. Having enjoyed all of his other albums, especially Summer, I am confident this is another great album. You can bet I’ll be out at Best Buy as soon as possible grabbing a copy. I’m very excited to hear all of the tracks. Of course, solo piano music isn’t for everybody and you may not like it. I would say that is your loss, especially in the case of such a great pianist as George Winston.
