Now, I Have a Job

The silence at tumbledry lately has been due to a wide variety of different things going on, which will all be discussed in time. The thing I’d like to focus on for now: as of last week, I am employed! Furthermore, I’m currently investigating how much I am allowed to talk about the employment in this space. Naturally, I will not ever be revealing any information remotely related to people, politics, products, etc. … or even the physical location of where I work. However, I am sure it is safe to say that I work as a contract analyst at 3M. Putting my biochemistry degree to good use should be exciting. Big changes are ahead in my life, and I will keep everyone posted as opportunities to write arise.

Spot Testing

Not too long ago, Katy sent me a couple of pictures she had taken, and suggested that I could post them. In an effort to kill two birds with one stone, I realized that I could not only post those pictures, but also roll out a new feature of tumbledry … besides the redesign you see. And yes, I’ll review the new features available to you in the coming days. And Nils will see some of his ideas posted, too. And there will be much rejoicing. And there will probably be some bug fixing.

Put down the ducky

Put down the ducky - A Sesame Street classic - this is the extended version. And yes … it is amazing. Thanks, Katy!

Bob Ross, Painting Extraordinaire

Bob Ross, Painting Extraordinaire - I don’t have really clear memories of Bob Ross and his painting show, but I know that it’s hard to argue with someone with such a life outlook: “we don’t make mistakes, we just have happy accidents.” More at Homestar Runner (thanks, Katy!) and the official Bob Ross website.

Gumby theme

Gumby theme - Katy found the Gumby theme. Just how I remember it!

Pluto Replies

Pluto Replies - A tshirt summing up the recent “pluto isn’t a plant anymore” fiasco.

Thanks, Katy!

Odiferous Birthday Shopping

Odiferous Birthday Shopping

I think these perfume sample cards have some great examples of graphic (and material) design. Very succinct, yet impactful branding. Plus, they get the bonus of having the product sprayed on them - very good selling tool. These were used in the quest for Katy’s birthday gift.

A Story, Thanksgiving, Shopping

My sister Katy was waiting to catch the campus connector yesterday, wearing her red purse and red backpack, when she was approached by an elderly women. “We both have red purses” the women commented, quite out of the blue. Rather nonplussed, Katy replied, “Why yes, we do - great minds think alike!” The woman thought for a moment and replied, “Well, I was thinking that I never had a red purse until I was old.” Some random old people give the rest a bad name.

For Always

The “here and now” is currently overwhelming. My projects include repairing my 838, catching up in Calc III, attending offices and the dental convention for the pre-dental co-op, finding time to return the multimeter that Professor Mowry so generously loaned me, finding new weight gloves, finalizing my school schedule for next year and this summer, polishing this catchy new piano riff, supporting Katy in her search for an apartment (she’s going to the U — yay for my sister being a graduate math student!), photographing South Campus for Katy’s memories, finding new lifting shirts, finding a summer job/internship, keeping my room clean, sleeping, and ending world hunger.
