Now, I Have a Job

The silence at tumbledry lately has been due to a wide variety of different things going on, which will all be discussed in time. The thing I’d like to focus on for now: as of last week, I am employed! Furthermore, I’m currently investigating how much I am allowed to talk about the employment in this space. Naturally, I will not ever be revealing any information remotely related to people, politics, products, etc. … or even the physical location of where I work. However, I am sure it is safe to say that I work as a contract analyst at 3M. Putting my biochemistry degree to good use should be exciting. Big changes are ahead in my life, and I will keep everyone posted as opportunities to write arise.

Oh, also, some clerical notes: I back-posted pictures to the photo-blog, so be sure to check those out if you’ve been starved for the daily tumbledry photography updates. Furthermore, I just posted a whole pile of links that I have been bookmarking (didn’t have time to post) during these past busy weeks. I hope you all enjoy.

P.S. Katy gets her Master’s degree in MATHEMATICS SOON. HURRAH. She has to pass impossible tests first, though. Go, Katy!

Congrats! To you and to Katy!

Thank you, Shayla! Now then, how are you and Matt adjusting to Iowa and school?

Shayla

Fairly well. First round of exams starts Thursday so ask me after that!

I think we’d adjust faster with a visit from our friends :) Or does 3M have you working every weekend?

Nils

Why can’t you say where you work, or the people, politics, and/or products?

Also, you didn’t travel. I am disappointed.

Alex, major question here. Now that you work at 3M can you get those folding pens for free? If so I need a new box of them because I am out. Thank you. Also, congratulations.

Mykala

I must agree with Nils on the travelling. (I tried, Nils, I really, really did.) Though, he does keep talking about a trip to Madison before you no longer attend school there. Ha. Not the same, really. At all. Even a little.

Well yes, I really do want to travel. My main justification is that traveling will be great when I’m old, but even better when I’m young. That is, my youth could be an incredible asset in enjoying everything travel has to offer. I mean, traveling while old has disadvantages: you jet lag easily, your body takes a long time to recover from the plane ride, and you can’t walk all over amazing foreign towns and cities.

I am disappointed that I have not yet done it. I do not, however, think being employed and taking trips are mutually exclusive. For those who are curious, I really like the idea of the Tuscany region of Italy. You could convince me of the value of the Nordic areas… or Japan, too. (Nils, Sagert, et al.)

Oh, also…

Nils asked about why I can’t talk about details. My hesitance to discuss aspects of the job center around intellectual property and the preservation thereof. As I learn more about what is public knowledge and what must be legally never mentioned, I am sure I can give better insight into what I do day to day.

Shayla mentioned that she has a round of exams: good luck! I won’t be working on the weekends, certainly — both Mykala and myself hope to visit!

Shayla

Thanks for the luck.

And about you and Mykala visiting…. SWEET.
