Homework
Today marks two months since moving day to our new place here in Woodbury; looking back, we have been working non-stop. We painted some 15 foot ceilings and installed a room and a half of engineered hardwood floor before move-in, but it turns out the home improvement sprint evolved into a marathon. You can imagine what it’s like to run the first 800 meters of a race flat-out before realizing that you’ve signed up for 26.2 miles.
Here’s a list of what we’ve done:
- 3/4 bath: stripped wallpaper, patched & reconditioned walls, primed, painted, caulked, repaired toilet, hung new accoutrements on the walls
- hallway: painted
- kitchen: stripped wallpaper, patched & reconditioned walls, taped behind appliances, primed, painted
- dining room: hung rod, sewed curtains
- disassembled, painted two light fixtures flat black
- painted fireplace surround
- made our first television purchase and hung that
- cut, fit, and installed 1 1/2 rooms of quarter round
- patched, primed, painted nursery
- painted dresser for nursery
- painted curtains for nursery
- hung 32 feet of shelves for books (the only large project that added rather than subtracted holes from the walls)
Stripping wallpaper is a royal pain in the ass.
