Travesty, Sham, Mockery
Our archdioses is getting a new archbishop who, as far as I can tell, is a total shithead. Let us quote from the article in the April 25, 2007 article in the Pioneer Press about him, shall we? Emphasis mine:
As bishop in New Ulm, Neinstadt prohibited cohabitating couples from being married in Catholic churches. He barred female pastoral administrators from leading prayers at a semiannual leadership event. He once disciplined a priest for holding joint ecumenical services with a Lutheran congregation after the Catholic church had been destroyed by a tornado.
What the heck? This guy talks all about how he loves the “…beautiful woman who was the bride of Christ.” That “bride” to which he refers would be the institution called the Catholic Church. I mean, it’s one thing for a priest to anthropomorphize the institution of which he is a part, but the actions of this man clearly show he has an utter disregard for actually leading a community of believers. He’s much more concerned with pushing policy through, rapping the Canon books, and engaging in general asshattery.
I’ve met priests who are wonderful people and excellent shepherds, and those who are neither. Though I haven’t met him, I believe this man falls in the latter category.

He does sound like a fuck up, although I’m just glad that Alex said “shithead”

But really, it’s not everyday that you hear Alex use an expletive, so when he does use them, they have extra poignancy. Nice work, Alex. It really brought the point home.

Alex…said…a swear…I am…shocked…
Next thing you know he is going to be drinking excessive amounts of alcohol and even loitering!

I felt that a well-placed obscenity was not only merited in this instance, but provided the tone for which I was looking.
And yes, I am one of the few people who would give a rational argument for swearing in textural form.
