Farmville is even more of a bummer than I’d originally thought. Cultivated Play: Farmville:
The most important thing to recognize here is that, whether we like it or not, seventy-three million people are playing Farmville: a boring, repetitive, and potentially dangerous activity that barely qualifies as a game. Seventy-three million people are obligated to a company that holds no reciprocal ethical obligation toward those people.
Just returned from a wonderful night out (aka bachelor party) with my great friends Matt, Steve, John, Nils, Dan, Ryan, and Chris! We went to a great place in Maple Grove called Dave & Buster’s — featuring food, bar, and full gaming area. I came home with the prizes from the night — Gophers fan hand, Dave & Buster’s novelty soccer ball, and poker chips + cards + box! Awesome! So, it was exactly the kind of night I had in mind — nobody puked, nobody was naked, and everybody will be able to get into work tomorrow! I need to get out with these guys more often.
Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D is a game for the iPhone. For the iPhone? For the iPhone. Holy cow, it’s like they made the Nintendo Wii mobile. The new iPhone comes out this Friday for $199. I still can’t afford it, but with its business AND gaming features, well… I think if you clicked through and watched that video, you just saw the reason why this thing has won. A list:
There are two people in the world, those who have played Peggle, and those who will love it soon. In that vein, I present to you: Peggle for iPhone Confirmed, from Boing Boing Gadgets. Imagine, being able to play Peggle, on your phone, anywhere in the world. This is a win for everyone!
The picture is only the beginning in “Activision Reports Sluggish Sales For Sousaphone Hero.”
The Bounce - Stratospheric giraffe jumping makes for an entertaining short-form game.
Currently: listening to “Stomp to My Beat” and pretending the floor is a DDR mat. I think I’m winning. 200 combo!
The Nintendo Wii … on a 1.5” TV - Ok, and get this - this guy managed to connect a Wii to a DOLLHOUSE TV. You know, those tiny, working televisions that are included in some dollhouses? Crazy.
Best Tetris on the Mac - Hey Justin, you should try this. When I get a Mac, this will be the only game I’ll have for it. Via DF.
Really fun JavaScript Tetris - Now, with music! The related article about his bet that he could write this code in 1 day.
Relative cost of video game consoles throughout the years - Check this out: the Sega Saturn, when first released, was equivalent to $524 in today’s money. Compare to the forthcoming PS3’s $500-$600 mark.
Project Gotham 3 - It’s not some virtual-morality thing, but I don’t like to shoot people as a part of my games. So, that explains why Project Gotham racing, with “some of the most beautiful visuals ever to grace a console game” appeals to me. Dan? XBox 360, then this game? I’ll wait.
Handheld Ninetendo 64 - This is amazing - Ben Heck’s hobby is to squeeze full size consoles into handheld devices. His completed designs are neat, tidy, and professional.
8-Bit video game art - Some very very interesting and eclectic art with one them: 8-bit video games.
Burnout 3: Takedown - Whatdda video game. I have to play this, and soon - it’s like a demolition derby on a road course.
Indeed, Dan look like Toad from Super Mario Brothers. Amazing.
Gameboy Micro is small in the absurd - Smaller than the screen on a PSP. Holy cow. Markoe, you should get one of these!
