Today, a Listerine ad taught me there are barnacles on your teeth. Wow!
This Southwest Airlines Commercial entitled “Deposit” illustrates why following instructions is important. And here’s the thing about those drive-through bank teller set-ups: should I be trying to make eye contact with the lady on the other side? I mean, they can see and hear me, and I can hear them… yet, isn’t there kind of a void there? I raise the question because I think there is at least one person in tumbledry’s audience who can provide advice.
This interesting tidbit about TV syndication is brought to you by lonelysandwich, who originally read it at neonmarg:
A lot of TV shows when run in syndication are sped up slightly and voices pitch corrected to sound normal (this lets the station get more commercials in). We observed that this is an unwise techinque when applied to the fast-talking Gilmore Girls.
I love the part in Tina Fey’s American Express commercial where the assistant answers the phone and says “your daughter says it’s octopus time” followed by a screeching taxi, and then Tina going “blaallalalala” with a stuffed octopus. And 30 Rock is very funny.
This commercial for Cingular (now AT&T) is the one with the butcher… and it is hilarious. “I mean… we probably weigh the…” Brilliant ad by BBDO.
Now then, if this isn’t the coolest commercial I’ve seen in the past 12 months. You see, they made NYC into one of those labyrinth maneuvering board games, and then sent a car through it. Behold, the car commercial itself.
The Eyeshirt is the worst iPod accessory product ever made. Mykala: “How much more lame can you be?” Watch the priceless commercial.
An infomercial jam session - “Now, let’s learn how to play, a rockanrollrhythm …” This Creative representative really knows how to sell a product. Check it out … the fastest rock drum tutorial ever.
I really like this Bob Dylan & iTunes Commercial - I never thought I would use “Bob Dylan” and “iTunes Commercial” in the same sentence … but here we are and really, there’s not much to dislike about this little spot. Great music, cool camera work, and probably better video quality than you get on your TV.
ChocoStix Commercial - The inside tastes just like an Oreo!
Snickers commercial - Prancing nouget in the middle sings a song of satisfaction … toooo the world. Great ad.
Agitatin’ Dots - Whoever thought this up: thank you. Can’t beat deadpan corporate comedy.
250,000 superballs - Well, everyone originally thought this was a Nike commercial, but it’s for Sony - this commercial was shot earlier this summer in San Francisco - the website does it justice: 250,000 superballs poured down a huge San Franciso hill.
