I took this before we went in to the RV show at the Minnneaplis Convention Center. Ess is holding what she calls ‘mama’: a hot pink Under Armour shirt of Mykala’s that Ess, out of the blue, began to use as a security blanket of sorts. In fact, she’s holding it as she sleeps right now. Anyway, we needed a way for Ess to be able to hold the blanket as we strolled around; Mykala thought to tuck it into the straps.
Auntie Katy got matching shirts for her and Essie!
Exciting things happening today, mainly involving redoing stuff that we didn’t get to do on their actual holiday dates:
My wife Mykala is a woman who knows how to wear some sweatpants. As the owner of a veritable library of them (nearly the antithesis to my own wardrobe), Mykala reintroduced me to sweatpants through persuasion and sheer exposure.
In elementary school, I had these red sweatpants which I wore to school once. I’m sure no one said anything about my pants, but possessing the misplaced assumption that everyone was looking at me, ready to laugh, I was certain derisive snickers and outright insults were bound to rain down upon me. Mykala and I have a short-hand for this type of self-consciousnessness: I imagine a world where everyone has giant eyes — mercilessly following my every move. This (of course) is patently false now, as it was then. Even at my young age, I was unusually intent on details, and I think there was a small darn on one of the legs… as far as I can tell, all this freaked me out sufficiently to keep me out of sweatpants for about a decade afterwards. What a shame.
The British company “albam” doesn’t use Chinese manufacturers to make its high quality clothing:
We are an independent company so we can listen to you. We develop and produce our clothes in the UK because we think the extra cost is worth the great quality. If we don’t make a line in the UK it is because we haven’t found a quality high enough to hang our hat on.
…
As someone told us “it doesn’t have to be radically different, just a lot better”, well we are sticking by this.
Intentionally out of focus.
Victorinox Bertrand Wool Cashmere Coat - Most amazing coat I’ve seen in a long time. It looks like the kind of coat that a soldier or night watchman from the early 1900s would wear. Unfortunately, way too expensive.
In a rare move, Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (NYSE: ANF) announced details on an upcoming line of clothing for their “abercrombie kids” stores in their press release this past Wednesday. The “innovative line of young women’s clothing” from the popular retailer would prominently feature the words “jailbait” on a variety of styles, cuts, and colors. “We feel that the new JB line from abercrombie kids resonates with the overarching brand image of the attitude and individuality of a younger generation, coupled with the sensibilities of classic style,” said Bert Giusepe, Abercrombie’s director of public relations. In response, upper middle class fathers across the nation issued a collective groan.
