Get Smart

This Get Smart trailer gives me high hopes for the movie, which opens next weekend. Incidentally, two weekends from now, Wall•E and Wanted both open.

At least one of these three movies has to be good!

Three words for you:

Kung Foo Panda

I enjoyed it thoroughly, I imagine you might as well.

SAW IT AND IT WAS AWESOME. From the first words of narrative, uttered by Jack Black, I knew it was going to be good.

Favorite part? All the slo-mo cuts.

Mykala

I really just loved Seth Rogen as the mantis. Phenomenal. I laughed at every one of his lines because that voice was just so recognizable and so unexpected out of that little green bug.

“I wish I had a bigger mouth.”

So fantastic. Great cinematic experience.

I also noticed that Mykala has “A partial iron” next to her name when you run your cursor over it. I seem to remember that I also had this at one point but it was taken away…

ouch.

Hahahah no no it’s not a status symbol by any means — it’s a bug in the software I wrote. It’s a classic “divide by zero” bug I hadn’t accounted for, but not to worry, it will be fixed fairly soon!

No need to watch Get Smart everybody. I went to see Kung Fu Panda with some work friends yesterday and we decided to walk into the Get Smart theater afterwards (felt like a rebellious 14 year old all over again). Oh my god it was awful. You really have to work hard to be that unfunny and it seems that filmmakers must have put into mondo overtime in that regard. The story is generic, stereotypical and one we have heard a thousand times since the beginning of the cold war, Steve Carrell plays an agent who is actually decently competent, Anne Hatheway was as wooden as Pinocchio, The Rock (Dwayne) has never been funny, and the serious attempt at a serious love story between Steve and Anne was just retarded. Even Bill Murray’s cameo didn’t make me laugh and that’s really saying something. This is the only movie I ever would have walked out of (but I couldn’t, I had gotten a ride).

That said, I enjoyed Kung Fu Panda, I want to see Wall-E, but the best movie of the summer is going to be Dark Knight without a doubt.
