Winter the Dolphin

In what is probably my favorite news story this year, we learn about The world’s first bionic sea creature: Winter. Early in life, this wild dolphin was injured in a crab trap and found floating with no tail. She healed up in captivity, but was in need of a prosthetic. So, after over a year of prosthetic fitting and work to restore functionality, she got a new tail!

In the creative parlance of headlines, here’s what I’ve come up with: Tursiops truncatus Treated to Technologically Terrific Tegumental Tail.

Why can’t we comment on every link and post these days?

Just an experiment by me; seeing who notices and if everybody wants the option to comment on everything. It’s interesting because in the past some of my shortest, least-researched, silliest things have elicited the longest, funniest discussions.

I don’t think I’m very good at guessing what will strike a nerve with people and what will not. That’s not good, because I may end up posting a lot of dross. Regardless, this blog will probably veer away from links and towards life updates: when I am in dental school, I won’t have much time to roam the internet and post the entertaining results.

That guy just kicked the thing and it didn’t fall over! That’s insane.

That still bothers me, I have seen it many times and I still cannot get over how creepy it is.
