tumbledry

Photos + John Mayer

Picture update coming soon - it’s been about two weeks since I put new pictures up! This will be exciting. I’ll try to get some good ones up. In the meantime, listen to John Mayer’s song “3x5.” Or, leave your own recommendation for me.

Since it just came out a week ago, and because it’s awesome, I will recommend any song from the new Radiohead album “In Rainbows.” You can legally download it for free from their website if you wish, but there is a pay option for it as well. I paid 5 British pounds for it, and I think it was pretty worth it. Check it out.

PS Excited about the new pics

PPS Kind of a slow week here at TumbleDry. Not a lot of commenting action. What’s up with that?

PPPS I am out of things to say. No more postscripts.

Now there’s a musical recommendation I’m willing to take you up on. From what I’ve heard, the band has made over a half a million in cold, hard cash by bypassing the music cartel. I’m happy, no, overjoyed to see such a high profile success for the musical distribution model of the future. Also, consider this information from <kottke.org>: “The top 10 on <Last.fm>: all Radiohead. Official chart: nada.” Click though from that link to the <Last.fm> blog… amazing to see those charts.

And yeah, things have been slow around these parts lately. This is understandable as my posting has dropped off since I moved and didn’t have internet. Like the seasons, tumbledry will cycle around again.

Incidentally, at the local laundromat I found these tumbledryers that are taller than I — I’ll try to work them into the upcoming set of photographs, which should be out tomorrow evening.

Alright, heres a suggestion for you.

His name is Jonathan Coulton and he’s probably most famous for his take on Sir-Mix-Alot’s “Baby got Back” (as seen on his myspace page)

The only reason I even know he exists is that he recently did the ending theme song for the game Portal by Valve. It is, by far, the best song I’ve ever heard in a video game.

PS. You may want to hold off on listening to the song if you are ever going to play the game.

PPS. Yeah, I know I’m a nerd.

Thanks, guys! Also… about the pictures… difficulties of a technical and very non-technical nature arose. However, they’ll be up soon.

In a completely different vein of music might I suggest listening to “The Streets” sometime. At first I was less than taken by this English hip-hop/electronica artist (the sometimes slang-heavy Birmingham accent is particularly difficult to understand if you are not used to it) but some of his tracks have grown on me. We play a couple of his things at Brits (which is where I first heard him before being introduced more formally to his stuff by Megan Sprangers) and I can honestly say that I like a lot of what I have heard.

Anyway, I am still looking forward to pictures especially because it is fall and that tends to be a good time of year for tumbledry photographs.

Oh man, I just thought of another musical recommendation for you (and others as well I suppose). Check out Great Big Sea if you have an opportunity. “The River Driver” is my favorite song of theirs. I guess they are a group from Canada that does mainly modern versions of older sea-faring songs. If you were to give them a genre I guess they would be folk. My brother saw them in concert and bought their CD (this was back when people actually bought CDs) which I then took and imported into my itunes.

I am sure I will have more recommendations soon as I wait for more pictures…
