Songs Lately

I’ve been thinking that it might be a good idea to start a favorite songs list on occasion. The material’s sitting right there in my iTunes, ready to bore anyone who reads it. I’ll try to limit the list to an arbitrary number, to encourage myself to only pick the best. You know, maybe someone could glean something off the list. Anyhow, here we go:

  1. George Winston, “Young Man’s Fancy” — Linus & Lucy: The Music Of Vince Guaraldi
  2. Jack’s Mannequin, “I’m Ready” — Everything In Transit
  3. The Format, “The First Single (You Know Me)” — Interventions and Lullabies
  4. Andy Mckee, “Rylynn” — Art of Motion
  5. The Killers, “When You Were Young” — Sam’s Town
  6. Keane, “The Frog Prince” — Under The Iron Sea
  7. Keane, “Crystal Ball” — Under The Iron Sea
  8. Dave Barnes, “I Have and Always Will” — Chasing Mississippi
  9. Neutral Milk Hotel, “The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. One” — In An Aeroplane Over the Sea
  10. Radiohead, “Packt Like Sardines In A Crushed Tin Can” — Amnesiac

Dan McKeown +1

Yes! Andy McKee made the list! I suggest that all tumbledryers (and even those who are not) go onto youtube and type in his name. Listen to (and watch I guess since it is youtube) “Rylynn”, “Drifting”, and “The Friend I Never Met.” You will not be upset that you did this.

i checked, and i was not disapointed. although andy’s style seems to be a direct rip off of justin king and wasn’t as impressive from a technical standpoint, i do believe i liked his melodies a lot better. see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yh_24DXNy8E for a good example but there’s a ton of his stuff on youtube.

also, since we are on the subject of amazing acoustic guitar solo instrumentals, my all time favorite has to be john butler trio’s “ocean”. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xZw9D9c18E
