Thanks,
Alex

Alex,

Actually, this week, labs that normally meet on Thursdays will meet this Tuesday, and labs that normally meet Tuesdays will be next Wednesday.

Just kidding, you are correct.

That reminds me of something that happened to me. I emailed one of my professors about a couple things before she had the chance to email the class. She sent me an email saying that I was just a little bit faster than her. So I sent an email back saying, "Thank you Dr. McComas, always one step ahead of you :)" She sent me an email back saying, "Yes, John, and thank you so much for pointing that out…" And that was all she wrote. I almost pissed my pants for pissing off an instructor. I frantically sent an email back apologizing and the next thing I knew she was right beside me in class saying, "I was just joking."

John, you're too high strung. You need a vacation or something. There's no way you could piss off a professor with little harmless jokes like that. If anything, she probably thought you were trying to hit on her. In that respect, keep it up and see how far you can take it. Having a prof who is attracted to you (sexually and socially) is a powerful assett. Use it to your advantage.

i do that all the time, its more of a curse than a blessing, however

You need to be more careful in graduate school though Nils. Some professors take professionalism very seriously. If you start calling them by their first name or don't refer to them by doctor, some may get upset and feel they aren't getting the respect they deserve. I even had one instructor email me back informing me of the thin line of we walk when we start using first names. The very fact that this happened to be my professional skills professor made me just a tad ancy at first, but she knows my best friend and where I work so it was all good… but you are correct, I am a little high strung… most of the times for reasons I shouldn't be.

I see where you're coming from John. And I am still thinking you go for the "attracting the prof" suggestion. Using professionalism will only make it easier. "Good morning Ms. Professor Smith. My, that perfume you're wearing is incredible. I love you……and the, the material we're covering right now." Subtlety like that works every time.

John

sweet. i'll give that a try!

Markoe

Well that came right outa left field didn't it?

I just hope that is a profesora and not a profesor (for those of you who do not speak spanish that is a female teacher and a male teacher).

Nils

I just want to wish Keith the best of luck with this prof. John, follow from his example. Explore the unexplored. You can do it.
