First Snow

Our first snow of the season began before noon today. Though the accumulation isn’t expected to stick around, such facts are of little help when you’ve somewhere to be. So, just like I did last season, I pumped up my Nokian Hakkapeliitta W240 tungsten carbide-studded snow tires and began my commute to the gym.

Kushari

Mykala just made kushari. Ours was brown lentils, elbow noodles, rice, tomato purée + spices, and very well-caramelized onions. It was EXTREMELY good: according to Wikipedia and Anthony Bourdain, it is a staple dish in many parts of the Middle East. Someday, we’ll visit that part of the world and try this — until then, we’ll stick with a taste-bud trip.

Tomb of 4,500 year old Egyptian dentist discovered - I wonder if being the dentist to the pharaoh required any special training.

Interesting, this was found in Saqqara which, as ancient burial grounds go, is pretty amazing. “The step pyramid at Saqqara was designed by Imhotep for King Djoser (c.2667-2648 BC). It is the oldest complete building hewn stone complex known in history.”
